Ingredients
Steak and sauce
- Minute SteaksFrom the counter320 g
- Sliced white mushrooms150 g
- Chopped brown onion100 g
- Dried thyme2 g
- Beef stock cube1
- Water100 ml
- Cooking cream150 ml
Veg
- Green Veg Medley200 g
- Garlic butter25 g
- Water50 ml
- Lemon1
Method
Fry steaks
- Pat the steaks dry with kitchen paper.
- Heat pan on high heat with a drizzle of oil.
- Season the steaks with salt.
- Once very hot, fry the steaks for 10-20 sec on each side until browned.
- Transfer the steaks to a plate and set aside.
- Reserve the pan.
Start sauce
- Return the pan to medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
- Fry the mushrooms for 3-4 min until softened and browned.
- Add the onions and thyme.
- Cook for 2 min until softened.
Add cream
- Crumble in 0.5 stock cube and add the measured water.
- Bring to a boil, stirring and scraping any browned bits in the pan.
- Pour in the cream and simmer for 4-5 min until thickened and glossy.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Tip: Sauce too thick? Add a small splash of water to loosen.
Steam greens
- Meanwhile, in a second pan, place the green veg medley and garlic butter with 50 ml of water.
- Cover with a lid and steam over medium-high heat for 2-3 min until just tender.
- Season with salt, lemon zest and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Finish steaks
- Return the steaks and any juices to the sauce.
- Turn to coat in the sauce and cook for 1-2 min until warmed through.
Serve
- Plate up the Minute Steak with Mushroom Cream and Steamed Greens!
